EVOLVE: The Instructor Development Experience

$500.00

A three-day, 24-hour experience designed to guide instructors through a journey of discovery of HOW to motivate students to learn skills, grow skills, and continually develop both as shooters and as people.

You know what it’s like to show up for the typical instructor course where you’re shown WHAT to teach. This three-day experience actually walks you through HOW to deliver a meaningful experience to students, and draws out of each student their personal, unique story and style of effective teaching.

Over the course of three days, you will be invited to experience, express, experiment, and evolve as an instructor. This is a radically different approach to instructor development than is available anywhere else, to our knowledge. If you don’t find that it is worth your time, and it did not make significant shifts in your approach to teaching, we will refund your entire entrance fee.

TOPICS ADDRESSED:
- The problems with the traditonal instruction model
- Developing your curriculum, and then throwing it away
- The difference between instruction, teaching, coaching, and facilitating
- WHY students come away with different information than was actually presented
- WHY instructors believe that they taught a concept, only to have actually taught something else
- Building time markers to avoid task and information saturation
- How to know if anyone learned what you intended to teach
- Moving from teaching like someone else to teaching like you

WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE:
- Teaching in front of the group
- Being evaluated by the group
- Feedback offered from the instructor
- Re-thinking your teaching
- Evolving your teaching
- Support from the group
- Having a group of peers to support you after the class experience
- Follow-up from the instructor on your growth plan

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- SIRT or Training Aid (inert) gun (we may have some available)
- Holster for that SIRT or Training Aid (inert) gun
- A basic outline of one of your classes
- A printed version of how you advertise that course to potential clients
- A printed version of the email you send to students who register for the class
- A laptop/tablet/phone for taking videos & photos
- Note-taking materials. Written notes are strongly recommended if you’re able
- Lunch breaks will happen off-site, but bring plenty of snacks/drinks as needed
- An open mind, open heart, and a willingness to re-think everything about instruction

What others say about Samuel Middlebrook:

“Samuel is one of the most deliberate, detail-oriented, and technically capable instructors teaching today. His ability to work with shooters at every skill level and guide them into measurable improvements with compassion and introspection is unmatched. Whether you're picking up a gun for the first time, are in the esoteric weeds of shooting for performance, or literally have lives on the line, Samuel needs to be on your short list if you're working to sharpen your craft.”
Mirko Muggli - three-time Gabe White Turbo Pin winner, and one of three people to ever clean the Rogers Shooting School test from concealment, back-to-back winner of the Rangemaster Shoot-Off

“Samuel Middlebrook is among the most inspirational, empowering, and motivating instructors I have ever met.”

In his “EVOLVE” class, Samuel goes beyond teaching what to instruct, he focuses on how to teach effectively. You’ll learn the precise phrases and techniques to communicate clearly, ensuring your students grasp exactly what to do and how to do it. Unlike typical instructor development courses that prioritize shooting skills, Samuel’s program hones your ability to teach. There are no shortcuts to mastery. “EVOLVE” demands hard work, but under Samuel’s expert guidance, you’ll gain insights from a prolific instructor - giving you a rare edge in the firearm training industry.”
